As I write (1:30am PST) the Liberals will form the next Canadian Government, as a minority, with the help of the New Democratic Party. Thank goodness for that (with certain caveats and assuming projections hold true). In your eye, Mr. Bush!

Technology and the Other War
"If they give you lined paper, write sideways."
The Paradise Paradigm
"Our understanding of the working of the world today is as yet inadequate to provide us with a clear view of what role we may play in the course of the earth's evolutionary future. We only know enough now to be able to reduce, perhaps halt, our destructive tendencies. That may not be enough."
A Hopi Prophecy
"The Great Spirit has been shaking the earth two times: the First and Second World Wars to remind us that we are a human family, to remind us that we should have greeted each other as brothers and sisters. We had a chance after each shaking to come together in a circle that would have brought peace on earth, but we missed that.

And now it is us. We are the ones they spoke of long ago. They say to be alive, to come into creation and to live upon the earth at this time is a great honor."
The Ecology of Intentions: How to make Memes and Influence People: Culturology
"It is oversimple to think of complex memes as "leaping" from mind to mind. Bits of them may do so, as one specialist replaces another, but it may often be better to think of large memes slowly migrating or "staining" their way across people, across materials and across institutions. But this image does violence to memes' coherence. We need to allow both for the extended, cellular, character of complex memes, the fact that they replicate themselves bit by bit, and their unities of function or intention."
A Century of U.S. Military Interventions

Our responses to the coming ouster, whether by poll or impeachment, of George W. Bush, must be planned now.

We reasonable humans suffer from a certain deficit - that of generally being reactive instead of creatively proactive. The Right, and especially the neo-con ideologues, are very good at long range planning. They are particularly adept at recognition and application of the insights revealed by Huxley (Brave New World Re-visited), Jung (Memories, Dreams, Reflections) and Orwell (1984), and designing stategy utilizing culture-wide Pavlovian conditioning.

Negative disciplining, through actions such as the World Trade Centers Setup, create a society in a state of generalized anxiety looking for the reward of projected punishment and (so?) implicate safety.

Taking more lessons, from the evangelical textbook as well, Bush et. al. have no qualms about spouting non-sense dressed up as prevarication to make a point. This is something no rational and empathetic person could do without blushing (ten children starved to death while I typed), which brings me back to the approach we must take once this fascist nightmare is over and Gaia's intelligence is able to reassert itself.

We are playing the ultimate reality game - Spaceship Earth, Solar System, Local Group, Galaxy, Universe - and while the rules are complex beyond definition, largely unseen, our personal actions are decisive. Huxley was right, Jung asked the right, and left, questions, and Orwell inimitably stated the obvious. Can we pay attention for long enough not to trip over the jamb of the door that science and insight has opened? Can we give up enough greed to allow necessity to be met?
"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.""
thanks to Cyrenity for pointing to my dream car

The main advantage of this vehicle is that the whole-life cost is incredibly low.

Mattie Stepanek 1990 - 2004
"We need to stop.
Just stop.
Stop for a moment…
Before anybody
Says or does anything
That may hurt anyone else.
We need to be silent.
Just silent.
Silent for a moment…
Before we forever lose
The blessing of songs
That grow in our hearts.
We need to notice.
Just notice.
Notice for a moment…
Before the future slips away
Into ashes and dust of humility.
Stop, be silent, and notice…
In so many ways, we are the same.
Our differences are unique treasures.
We have, we are, a mosaic of gifts
To nurture, to offer, to accept.
We need to be.
Just be.
Be for a moment…
Kind and gentle, innocent and trusting,
Like children and lambs,
Never judging or vengeful
Like the judging and vengeful.
And now, let us pray,
Differently, yet together,
Before there is no earth, no life,
No chance for peace."

Canada Should Keep its Distance from U.S. Foreign Policy by Naomi Klein
"As long as the United States continues to act as a global aggressor, the best way for us to stay healthy is to stay as far away as from Americans as possible.

With 8,890 kilometers of shared border, geographical distance is not an option. Fortunately, political distance still is. Let's not surrender it."
The Republican Party of Canada, uh, the Conservative Party, is taking a run at our entrenched Liberals in the current election by very spurious means indeed. Their leerless feeder Stephen Harper has accused Prime Minister Paul Martin of being soft on pedophilia (excuse me). Shot themselves in the foot.

Privatization, a favorite of the Cons, but ne'er mentioned in this context, has created Canada's Billion Dollar, P3, Boondoggle.
"Management was the only area that was not contracted out, but in this case the management also did not have the knowledge or experience to oversee the IT component of creating a brand new data base for registering Canada's gun owners.

There are clearly no cost savings in outsourcing government services, there is less direct control and less accountability. And yet these same companies that outsource are the ones that not only claim they are more efficient than in-house services, they also are companies that support tax cuts for business."
Electing Stephen Harper: a risky crap shoot
"When the surging party led by Stephen Harper is called "Tory" voters are being misled. The Canadian Conservative Party should be known in the press as the Conservative Reform Alliance Party, or CRAP for short. This would be a fair, balanced, objective way of announcing what awaits us."
Jack Layton: Redefining social democracy
"Whether the Conservatives or the Liberals form the government, minority or majority, giving Jack Layton's NDP a strong voice in Parliament is the only way to ensure that these ideas begin to have a hearing. A strong NDP presence in Parliament will mean that the media will have to pay attention."

For those of ideological certainty, life is only fractionally lived. One of the essences in our humane bouquet, and that most responsible for intelligence, is humor.

The ability to grok the duality of things, internalize that as an irresolvable tension, and then actively release the contained energy as a fusion of understanding is the heat that bonds us - as people, within culture, in relationship with language, geography, technology, and spirit.

It is time to (re)read The Architecture of Modern Political Power, grok the fullness of inanity, and act - as free people. How about, John, that we play!
"A solitary innovator can have within his head all that is necessary to transform the world so dramatically, that all the wealth and power that came before is rendered simply obsolescent. The machinations of the Rockefellers, Carnegies, Morgans, Rothschilds, and their ilk, are direct responses to this reality, a reality obviously inconvenient for them."
Would that we could all be Living on Sun, Water, Wind, Grass, and Community
"The technical and architectural triumph of Gaviotas is its hospital, cooled by the wind, heated by the sun. The sun also provides hot water, boiled sterilized water, and the heat for six pressure cookers in the kitchen, plus enough electricity for the lights. By the time the hospital was built, Gaviotas had several hundred inhabitants, including the only doctors, nurses, and teachers for hundreds of miles around. People came there for medical care and sent their children there to school."
Artificial Life Is Real is an incredible essay that enables a shift in view of world and mind. A movement away from Western humanism and towards Eastern post-humanism.
"Minds, whether natural, artificial or a hybid, participate in the life of self-organising forms. Nothing has enduring self-identity. Everything flows. Minds, forms and actions, lacking any persistent essence, are malleable, not immutable."
The problem with America's failed chance at essentially reducing if not eliminating drugs as a problem was a contradiction between the needs of domestic policy and the national security state.

The Gospel of George
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye fear that men should do unto you, do ye even so to them, for you are the law."

'Was Reagan responsible
for the Soviet Union's downfall?
"If there's anyone to attribute the changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe to, both the beneficial ones and those questionable, it is of course Mikhail Gorbachev and the activists he inspired."
Yellow Times presses awareness of The children of the garbage fields in Phnom Penh.
"Soah, one child from hundreds, has some minimal chance of survival. If this is what passes for good news, then where are we as a society?"
ZNet, Germany, provides us with the latest Interview with Noam Chomsky.
"Since Plan Columbia came in, atrocities have increased, the struggles were militarized, the numbers of people who have been murdered have increased, the number of Union activists murdered has increased sharply, in fact, Columbia - I forget the numbers - has a large percentage of the worlds' union activists murdered."
Shall we ponder How will the history of the U.S.-led military aggression against Iraq be told? Killing Games, by Gerard Greenfield
"It is true that the commodification of war and violence as entertainment and the subsequent misrepresentation of history are not new. The history of Hollywood is rife with this, as with nationalist/fascist cinema in so many countries past and present."
GWB had the temerity to state: We plan a comprehensive assault on terrorism. This will be a different kind of conflict against a different kind of enemy. This is a conflict without battlefields or beachheads, a conflict with opponents who believe they are invisible.

Dangerous Philosophy: Threat, Risk, and Security
"We will not forget to make clear that the questions posed in the beginning are still entirely hypothetical. Philosophy has not (yet) been interrogated of its risk or apparent threat to hinge toward or to appear to be in proximity with a discourse made to belong to terrorism by the State."
Former Dignitaries Fault Bush Administration

The abject failure of most mainstream Media to ask pointedly pertinent questions and demand candid answers leads to false democracy. The Ethical Reporter would cast truth to the winds of consciousness.
"A truly independent press, one that is unimaginable today, might want to tell more difficult truths about the nature of society and personality, about the role of sex and power and love and hate, about the need for acceptance, order, safety and the fear of death, about the misuse of power and position that pervades society, about ethics and how all these affect both public and private life. It might become a forum for discussions of what society and, ultimately, what humanity, can become."
This Q&A with Gen. Anthony Zinni, Former Director of USCENTCOM illustrates the entrenchment of counterfeit, mediated reality.
"We never sell the go to war on the strategic ...on the strategy. It's interesting in that when Tom Ricks did the article on the Secretary Wolfowitz and myself - in this, the (Washington) Post - there was a comment in there by Secretary Wolfowitz that said, "Sometimes the American people have to be pushed into these things."

That made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. What do you mean, pushed? Does it mean cook the books on the intelligence? We shade the truth? Does it mean we don't give them the straight answer as to why we're doing this?"
Transparencynow.com is a valuable resource whose dedication is to breaking through to the real side. Stanislaw Lem and The Future of Illusion
"One answer these essays will give is that it isn't only outward appearances that end up being counterfeited. These changes are also giving many people a false view of life, which is making its way from our entertainment-based popular culture to the deeper culture embodied in our values and character."
The OAS Firearms Convention
"In January 2001, a West African arms and diamonds dealer emailed a long list of weapons, including sniper rifles, anti-tank weapons, and shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles, to an Israeli arms dealer operating out of Guatemala. The Israeli forwarded the request to another Israeli, who forwarded it on to one of his contacts in the Nicaraguan military.

Less than a year later, the same arms dealer duped the Nicaraguan government into selling them 3000 AK series assault rifles and 2.5 million rounds of ammunition, which he claimed was for the Pananamian National Police. Instead, the weapons were shipped via boat to Turbo, Colombia, where they ultimately ended up in the hands of the United Self-Defenses Forces of Colombia (AUC) - a paramilitary organization that is on the State Department's list of international terrorist organizations."
An essential (re)read in this age of The Watchers is A Tack in the Shoe: Neutralizing and Resisting the New Surveillance
"Neutralization is a dynamic adversarial social dance involving strategic moves and counter-moves. It has the quality of an endless chess game."

Prof. Michel Chossudovsky, whose work has been highlighted some few times over the course of this blog is, I am proud to say, Canadian. War and Globalisation: The Truth Behind September 11 is well reviewed by Kéllia Ramares. See June 1st below for more....link is fixed.
"What were Rep. Porter Goss and Senator Bob Graham and other members of the Senate and House intelligence committees doing, together with the alleged money-man behind 9-11, at breakfast on Capitol Hill on the morning of September 11?

Last Thursday, George Tenet resigned as director of Central Intelligence. Rep. Porter Goss is one of the favorites to succeed Tenet. If he is nominated, will any of the senators at his confirmation hearing have the guts to ask the above question? And if he is not nominated, will it be because of what the answer to that question is?"

I had intended to follow the last enteries with research into the ties between various members of the Bush Administration and the Unification Church (the Moonies). After I was finished with the dozen or so articles I had dug up I was viscerally ill. I abandoned my computer for a week!

"The abuse his followers suffered at the hands of their mind manipulating master is indeed very well established. His claims include stating that Christ failed His mission, and that Moon himself is the "new messiah" who is come to fulfill the mission of God. He also claims that it is his mission to 'unite the world through uniting religious forces'. But would it shock you to know that nearly all the big name Christian evangelicals have extremely strong ties to him?

One such Church leader and internationally recognized evangelical Christian, Jerry Falwell, readily admits that he accepted 2.5 million dollars from Moon in 1994 in order to bail out his Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia."

Quite enough of that, say wot? The Capitalist Metameme is, for much of the world's political elite, the only acceptable culture; whether that includes businesses posing as religions, NGO's, charities or any other tax-reduced entity.

George W. Bush and his cohorts in crime, nay treason, are without doubt complicit in the devastation of 11/9/01. There are many other dischordant threads of complicity, such as the perfectly timed removal of Paul Wellstone, that would cause pause within any thinking person.

I am going to return to more variable abuddhas content for a while. I never intended to be a poli-blog and am not really comfortable projecting things from such a restricted, polar, viewpoint. On the other hand, to be an apologist for my recent focus, these next few months that will see a Canadian and U.S. American election may well be the most important of the next fifty years.

USA Patriot Act was a "coup d'etat"
"With the resignation of CIA Director, George Tenet, on June 3rd, can Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz's be far behind?"
The Transparent Society: Will Technology Force us to Choose Between Privacy and Freedom? I am desperately loathe to agree with David's analysis, as I believe that privacy is not a negotiable part of freedom.
"Now suppose we try to improve things by passing laws and sending forth regulators with clipboards -- commanding that all restaurants erect a maze of paper shoji screens to keep customers from ogling other patrons. Will this prevent staring, or increase it?"
So I'm sittin' havin' coffee and the house starts to roll and I got no rock on the radio. Techtonic plates shuffling about, right? Well...Earthquakes: Natural or Man-made?
"Often we are told technological research in the military field is ten or more years ahead of what we see today. Frightening and controversial projects like HAARP, with applications ranging from superbeam weapon to worldwide mind control, should be of great concern to us all. And most worrying is mounting evidence that the US military now has the ability to create earthquakes - the ultimate weapon of war."
Bush Sr.'s Iraq-Iran Secrets
"Before the Iraq War spins further out of control, former President George H.W. Bush should sit down his son, George W. Bush, and level with him about the real history of U.S. relations with Iraq, Iran and Israel's Likud Party - even if the father has to admit to illegal and unethical conduct in the process."
George W. Bush: Getting His Orders at Bilderberg?
"US President George W. Bush's trip to Italy coincides neatly and quite conveniently with the annual meeting of the notorious Bilderberg Group..."
Flight 93: The Improbable Truth
"The possibility is that United Flight 93 crashed as a result of being attacked by a high-powered microwave weapon, most likely fired from the C-130 aircraft acknowledged by the Department of Defense to be present that morning."
The Three Top Sins Of The Universe
"On Tuesday September 11, 2001, at least 35,615 of our brother and sisters died from the worst possible death, starvation. Somewhere around 85% of these starvation deaths occur in children 5 years of age or younger."
The Bubble of American Supremacy
"The Bush doctrine, first enunciated in a presidential speech at West Point in June of 2002, and incorporated into the National Security Strategy three months later, is built on two pillars: the United States will do everything in its power to maintain its unquestioned military supremacy; and the United States arrogates the right to pre-emptive action. In effect, the doctrine establishes two classes of sovereignty: the sovereignty of the United States, which takes precedence over international treaties and obligations; and the sovereignty of all other states, which is subject to the will of the United States."
From Hitler to Bush
"What do you expect from a leader who in his own country, the cradle of democratic tradition, has suspended civil rights, has introduced censorship, black lists, done away with habeas corpus (a right for which so many generations have given their lives), imposed clandestine trials, secret jails and made having an opinion a crime, taking his country back to the black night of the most backward McCarthyism."
June 1st, 2004

Before the current Administration of the Excited States gets a chance to vie for a second term, lets create a background upon which we could paint his poor traits.

An awe full start could be made by consulting a decent and Complete 911 Timeline.
"There are an amazing amount of intriguing news stories that have squeaked into the media but not reached a wide audience, and/or have not been properly followed up or placed into context."
Contextualizing the prelude, fact, and aftermath is the focus of Timeline 911. This is a highly comprehensive and easily navigable site.
"(11:30 p.m.): Before going to sleep, Bush writes in his diary, "The Pearl Harbor of the 21st century took place today. …"
To further cement the supporting rebars of Shrubian complicity, the Post 911 Timeline documents the practiced planning put into place following the pumped-up Americaust.
"Sept. 20th, 2001 - President Bush announces the establishment of the Office of Homeland Security, and the appointment of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge in his Address to a Joint Session of Congress and the American People. "
Pulling all the threads together is Proffesor Michel Chossudovsky with a truly definitive exposition. "Revealing the Lies" on 9/11 Perpetuates the "Big Lie". Read, weep, vote.
"Revealing a lie does not necessarily lead to establishing the truth."
When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence.
