“Polish poster artists drew heavily upon the
violence contained in Westerns. In the films, violence helped to overcome
evil and was associated with power and control. It offered quick and simple
solutions to complex problems, providing immediate advantages. There was
little consideration for those subjected to violence. Polish posters,
however, always portray violence as a negative force, bringing with it death
and destruction. That violent actions have consequences is one of the
strongest messages to emerge from the exhibition.”
